How to Get a Weight Loss Prescription Without Insurance

A medication vial and calculator for weight loss without insurance

Without insurance, weight care may still be available through self-pay clinical services and eligible manufacturer programs. Compare the complete recurring cost, product approval status and clinical follow-up before enrolling.

Ozempic injection: verified self-pay pricing

As checked September 14, 2026, Novo Nordisk advertises $199 for each of the first two monthly fills of the 0.25 or 0.5 mg starting doses for eligible new patients, with fills through December 31, 2026. Ongoing prices are $349 for 0.25, 0.5 or 1 mg and $499 for 2 mg. The manufacturer defines a month as one box containing one pen. Eligibility and changeable terms apply; this is not a price promise for every prescription. Source: Ozempic manufacturer savings terms

Wegovy: identify the formulation

As checked September 14, 2026, manufacturer offers distinguish tablets from pens. For the 0.25 through 2.4 mg pens, the advertised ongoing price is $349 per box of four pens after any applicable introductory offer; the 7.2 mg HD pen has a separate price. Tablets have dose-specific prices and terms. Confirm the maintenance cost, not only the first fill. Source: Wegovy manufacturer savings terms

What insurance changes

Coverage depends on the drug, diagnosis, plan formulary and prior authorization. Ask about the cost after your deductible and any required clinical documentation. Commercial savings and self-pay offers have different rules. Medicare GLP-1 Bridge is a temporary program for certain eligible beneficiaries beginning in July 2026; it does not mean automatic coverage for everyone. CMS: Medicare GLP-1 Bridge eligibility

REMEVi plans: billing period and total payment

REMEVi prices use four-week billing periods, which are not calendar months. The 12- and 24-week terms require the full total upfront. Lab work that the clinician requires for treatment is included.

Compounded preparationEvery 4 weeks12 weeks: total upfront24 weeks: total upfront
Injectable semaglutide$199$507 ($169/4 weeks)$954 ($159/4 weeks)
Injectable tirzepatide$269$699 ($233/4 weeks)$1,350 ($225/4 weeks)
Compounded oral semaglutide$249$687 ($229/4 weeks)$1,290 ($215/4 weeks)

See current semaglutide and tirzepatide plan details. Compounded oral semaglutide is not an approved Wegovy, Ozempic or Rybelsus tablet. Eligibility and prescribing depend on clinical evaluation. Service is available in 49 states and Washington, DC, excluding Louisiana.

The product distinction matters

Compounded preparations are not FDA-approved, are not generics of the brands and do not have established clinical equivalence to them. FDA recommends their use only when an available approved product cannot meet the medical need. A lower price does not establish equal safety or effectiveness. Source: FDA: unapproved GLP-1 medicines

Before choosing

Confirm the product, route, pharmacy, supply length, full upfront payment, refill terms and cancellation policy. Ask who handles side effects and what happens if clinical review does not recommend treatment. Review care options.
